BIO
I am an MRC Research Training Fellow and Royal College of Surgeons of England research fellow undertaking my PhD in the Volatile Biomarker group, under the supervision of Professor George Hanna and Professor Julian Griffin.
My background is medical, specifically, I am a General Surgical Registrar at Imperial NHS Trust, North West London with a specialist interest in minimally invasive upper Gastrointestinal surgery (Oesophagogastric cancer and Metabolic surgery).
My research interests are in translational therapeutics in gastrointestinal disease, particularly in tumour metabolomics and performing high quality surgical trials. I have been funded by the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons to execute research that aims to improve the quality of surgical research across the continent.
The overarching aim of my doctoral research is to explore the role of the reprogrammed onco- microbial oesophageal adenocarcinoma lipidome and its relation to generating diagnostic cancer biomarkers and translating these scientific mechanisms to improved clinical outcomes via earlier cancer detection with a non- invasive breath test. This research has been generously funded by grants from the British Association of Surgical Oncology (NIHR), The MRC and RCS(England).
