BIO

Profile Summary

I specialise in translational medicine, bridging research and patient care through the development and validation of molecular diagnostics.

As Deputy Head of the Molecular Diagnostics Unit (MDU), I lead numerous research and clinical projects, focusing on assay development, diagnostic innovation, and regulatory compliance, through UKAS accreditation to ISO15189:2022 standards, and GCLP certification.

My work includes optimising NGS methods for HCV, HIV, and Respiratory Viruses, allowing to support transmission and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) studies.  Currently, I co-authorise UKAS-accredited diagnostic services for HIV, HCV, and HTLV, and continue to develop novel assays used in clinical trials—including Flu A/B quantification and sequencing supporting treatment surveillance.  I am actively involved in 16S/18S detection and identification of bacterial/fungal causes of sepsis, and supporting the SARS-CoV-2 human challenge model, further advancing diagnostics in infectious disease and clinical research.
