MissAneire Khan

Aneire Ehmar Khan is a Research Associate in Public Health and Engineering in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Imperial College London. Her research focuses on environmental and global health, particularly the health impacts of climate change and environmental change in low- and middle-income countries. Her research interests include drinking-water salinity and sodium exposure, maternal health, blood pressure and cardiovascular health, and the wider public-health consequences of environmental change.

Aneire completed her PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at Imperial College London, investigating drinking-water salinity and the risk of pre-eclampsia and gestational hypertension in coastal Bangladesh. Funded by the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment, her research contributed to the growing evidence base on the health consequences of climate-related salinity. She also holds an MSc in Modern Epidemiology from Imperial.

Aneire is currently based at the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases and Environmental Change, where she works with partner institutions in Bangladesh to support the development, implementation and evaluation of multisectoral interventions addressing non-communicable diseases and environmental change in context-specific settings. She also contributes to translating research evidence into policy discussions on drinking water, environmental change and public health. In recognition of her research on climate change and health in Bangladesh, she received the HSBC Climate Change Champion Award.
