BIO
I am a Research Associate in Population Health in the Global Environmental Health research group. My current research projects focus on analysing the past, current, or expected future levels and trends in population health, with a particular emphasis on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
I am also interested in innovative solutions for global health problems. In 2017, I co-founded Momoby, a startup company that aims to bring antenatal healthcare to isolated areas from low-income countries. This project has been awarded a number of prizes in national and international innovation competitions, including: IDea Incubator San Francisco 2018 (3rd Prize); Venture Catalyst Challenge 2018 (1st Prize); Althea-Imperial Innovation Program 2017 (2nd Prize); I3S-Hovione Capital Innovation Prize 2017 (finalist); Hello Tomorrow Challenge 2017 (shortlisted).
I hold a BSc degree in Biotechnology from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and an MRes degree in Biomedical Research from Imperial College. My PhD (12/14 - 03/18) was funded by three independent PhD studentships from Imperial College, the Medical Research Council, and La Caixa Foundation. I was supervised by Dr. Marc-Emmanuel Dumas, Prof. Jeremy Nicholson and Dr. Joram Posma, and my research focused on the identification of novel molecular biomarkers for cardiometabolic disorders.
