RESEARCH

I am interested in the implementation of optimisation methods for the design-for-control and near real-time control of operational water distribution networks.

- Multi-objective optimisation
The first aspect of my research focuses on the multi-objective design-for-control of water distribution networks, which can be formulated as non-convex multi-objective mixed-integer non-linear programs. In particular, I am interested in both global and scalable heuristic methods to approximate the Pareto fronts of these challenging optimisation problems, which may be composed of disconnected segments and isolated points.

- Control of operational networks
The second aspect of my research focuses on the investigation of efficient and scalable methods for the control of operational water distribution networks (e.g. in response to failure events). In particular, I am currently interested in the application of decomposition methods to the optimal pump scheduling problem within model predictive control schemes.
