TEACHING INTERESTS
Alexander is active in both teaching modules in the department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking the following research projects:
- Artificial Neural Network surrogate models for turbulence closure in near wall flows
- Modelling spot ignition of smouldering wildfires
- Validating analytical smoke dispersion models with CFD simulations
- Investigation of the Historical Development of the Crank-Nicolson Method
- Physics Interpreted Machine Learning optimisation of kinetics of pyrolysis and char oxidation
- Modelling the effect of biomass biochemistry on the drying behaviour of dead fuels
For his dedication and innovation brought to teaching he has been awarded Best Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2025.
