BIO

Al-Amin Bashir Bugaje has a PhD from the Control and Power (CAP) group, in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE). His PhD research in Prof Goran Strbac's group focused on the application of data-driven techniques to power system security. Specifically, he investigated the value of "smart" sampling techniques to enrich databases used in training learned models for power systems applications, including dynamic security assessment and optimal transmission switching. He was the group representative for CAP PhD students in the department for 2020-2021 academic session. Al-Amin was also the Vice-Chair of the Climate Entrepreneurs Club, a budding hub for Imperial students interested in addressing climate change through entrepreneurship. He was the overall postgraduate department representative for EEE and served on the department's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee. He also worked with the graduate school as a Student Programme Partner (SPP) to co-commission, co-design, co-deliver and co-assess the Master's Programme alongside Dr Helal Ahmed. Al-Amin served as Graduate Teaching Assistant in various modules including Mathematics for Engineers, Data structures and Algorithms, Machine learning, etc.
