BIO
Andrew Walton is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the Mathematics Department of Imperial College. His research interests are in the area of fluid dynamics, particularly hydrodynamic stability theory and transition to turbulence. His published papers include investigations into wave-vortex interactions in boundary-layer transition, separation of flows over surface roughnesses and the flow around buildings. Recently he has been investigating transition in a circular pipe, using a combination of analytical, asymptotic and numerical techniques, and a related problem of axial flow in an annular region. The latter problem has applications in the oil and pharmaceutical industries.
