Nonlinear Structural Stability

Professor Wadee is looking to recruit new PhD students in the field of nonlinear structural mechanics, more recently his focus has been on investigating mechanical metamaterials, thin-walled structures and cable stiffened structures.

My research group's work has been profiled on the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute website. We have investigated the following aspects of nonlinear structural mechanics:

Nonlinear mechanical systems
Geometric approaches to mechanical modelling
Coupled instabilities in optimized structures
Sandwich structures
Composite and layered materials
Thin-walled structural components
Prestressed steel structures
Tubular structures

On-going research projects

Buckling and delamination of sandwich structure systems
Kink banding in layered structures and materials
Interactive buckling of thin-walled structural components
Post-buckling of prestressed stayed columns
Delamination and kink banding in composite laminates
Localized buckling in elastic tubes
