DrAndreia Vargas-Seymour

Andréia Vargas-Seymour is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Educational Development at the Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship (CHERS)/Educational Development Unit (EDU). She holds an MRes and a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology (UFRGS, Brazil), and an MEd in University Learning and Teaching (Imperial College London, UK). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Andréia joined Imperial in 2019 as a Teaching Fellow for the Faculty of Medicine (FoM). She taught multiple modules on the BSc Medical Biosciences (BMB) programme and was also a personal tutor to BMB students. From 2023 to 2025, Andréia was the Digital Education Transformation Fellow in the MBBS BSc/Phase 2 central team, delivering training to both students and staff and working on multiple academic initiatives to support them throughout the academic year.

At CHERS/EDU, Andréia is co-director of the PG Cert ULT, where she leads on the core module How Students Learn.

Andréia continues to collaborate with colleagues from the FoM on the organisation and delivery of the GenAI Shorts sessions, which are open to staff from all Imperial faculties.
