Dr. Anna Stejskalova is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. Her current Research focuses on uncovering human reproductie biology in health and disease using advanced bioengineering tools to ultimately provide better informed and more targeted and curative patient care.
Anna obtained Ph.D. in Bioengineering in the Almquist Lab and then underwent postdoctoral trianing at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineered at Harvard Medical School in the laboratory of Prof. Donald Ingber and was a WiRE Fellow at the University of Munster in Germany mentored by Professor. Martin Gotte.
Anna has a significant expertise in designing and developing functional pre-clinical models that advance Women's Health. As a postdoctoral fellow, she developed Organ Chip models of the Fallopian Tube and the Cervix that provided new insights into how sperm navigate their journey through the female reproductive tract and into processes related to bacterial dysbisosis, cervical insufficiency and preterm birth. She also developed spheroid-based models of endometriosis.
