BIO
I am a cellular and molecular biologist based at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. My current research focus is Gene Therapy; specifically involving the testing of lentiviral vector technologies for the treatment of pulmonary focused disorders, like Cystic Fibrosis.
I have diverse professional experience in muscle (patho)physiology, immunology, pulmonary biology, and gamma-retroviral and lentiviral vector science. My PhD research, at Portsmouth University, explored purinergic interactions in the muscle wasting genetic disorder, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I then setup a novel (NK)T-cell reporter technology at Kings College London and the Crick Institute, involving the forced expression and selection of specific labelled-TCRs in haematopoietic stem-cells, and subsequently lymphocytes.
I regularly teach and supervise students on the Genes, Drugs and Stem Cells MSc programme. I am also a member of the Centre for Advanced Therapeutics early career researcher network.
I have a keen interest in, and advanced knowledge of, image processing algorithms, especially implemented for use in the open-source software ImageJ. You can find several of my available plugins on my github repo.
