BIO
I am a post-doctoral Research Associate working with Professor Quint’s respiratory epidemiology research group based at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London. Including the time spent doing my PhD, I have accumulated over 6 years’ worth of experience in working with UK electronic health records (EHRs), primarily CPRD GOLD and Aurum to answer research questions relating to the management and treatment of COPD, asthma and more recently, pulmonary fibrosis.
I have a particular interest in code validation work, having undertaken a study to assess the reliability and completeness of the recording of stroke events in primary care as part of my PhD, and am currently using this experience to address the more complex issue of the coding of fibrotic lung diseases in routinely-collected primary and secondary care health data. In addition, I am conducting studies to explore possible associations between the use of inhaled corticosteroids and antacids and the risk of pneumonia in people with IPF, as well as investigating pathways to a diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis in people with rheumatoid arthritis.
