Alessandra is Chair in Statistics in the Department at Imperial College. She first joined Imperial College from the University of Bologna in 2022-2023, as Provost's Visiting Professor of Statistics. Previously, she has been Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (EU) and Visiting Erskine Fellow at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch (NZ).
Alessandra obtained a PhD in Statistics at the University of Bologna, under the external supervision of Ole Barndorff-Nielsen, University of Aarhus, where she studied as a visiting PhD student. The PhD thesis was concerned with the maximisation of Fisher information in quantum systems. She then got a fellowship on non-parametric methods for signal extraction under the supervision of Estela Bee Dagum. The main research interests are concerned with time series analysis and mathematical statistics.
