BIO

Anna Kinsey is Head of Research Strategy for the Faculty of Medicine.

 

Formerly a biomedical scientist with experience of fundamental and translational research, both in industry and academia, Anna joined Imperial from the Medical Research Council where she was Head of Programme - holding operational responsibility for the MRC's Infections and Immunity Board funding and strategic responsibility for its Epidemic Preparedness strategy development and implementation. In this capacity she has held various external advisory positions. She was also an elected member of GloPID-R's Executive Board; GloPID-R is a global coalition of research funders, with the Board overseeing GloPID-R's strategy development and execution, and its activities to coordinate research funding relevant to epidemic preparedness and response.

 

Through her previous roles at MRC, at the Academy of Medical Sciences and for Europe PMC she is experienced in the development and delivery of successful programmes informed by thorough understanding of research priorities and practice, and is committed to supporting high quality medical and health research and researchers.

 

She completed her PhD at the University of Cambridge investigating the role of novel receptors in noiception, and subsequently undertook postdoctoral research at the Institute of Psychiatry investigating conditions leading to pathological tau protein and, latterly, integrating clinical outcomes and biomarkers in dementia.
