BIO
Arshad is a PhD scholar in the Tribology Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, and a recipient of the prestigious President’s PhD Scholarship.
His research focuses on developing a cartilage model that incorporates both mechanical and tribological aspects of native cartilage. In the future, this model aims to enable early detection of osteoarthritis and support the development of patient-specific treatment strategies. Additionally, it will contribute to the design of biomaterials for cartilage and other soft tissues.
Prior to joining Imperial College London, Arshad worked as a Product Engineer at John Deere, an agricultural equipment manufacturer, for three years. In this role, he performed finite element analysis to virtually validate crop care products prior to manufacturing. During his Master’s at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2019, Arshad also investigated two epoxy composites as potential replacements for the currently used UHMWPE acetabular cup in hip implants.
