DrAparna Harindranath

Aparna Harindranath specializes in medical imaging research, currently focusing on tomographic imaging with ultrasound and Xrays (USCT and XCT). Earlier, she was part of the QUSTom project (qustom-project.eu) on breast ultrasound tomography at Imperial College. 

Her doctoral thesis investigated the use of MEMS-IMU sensors for cost-effective freehand manual 2D and 3D diagnostic ultrasound Imaging focusing on fetal imaging. She has an academic background in electronics and communication engineering with specialization in VLSI and Embedded systems and has hands-on experience in electronics system design and development as well as algorithm optimizations for advanced signal processing applications.

Her broad research interests are on Ultrasound imaging techniques & image processing for diagnostic applications, Freehand ultrasound imaging and 2D/3D reconstruction for biomedical applications, Low-cost ultrasound technology for clinical applications, Quantitative Ultrasound imaging, ultrasound computed tomography (USCT) techniques, Xray-CT imaging, MEMS-IMU-based activity detections and position and orientation tracking for diverse applications, Motion tracking algorithms and technologies, Signal Processing and analysing algorithms and electronic instrumentation.
