BIO
I am a PhD Researcher at Imperial College London, specialising in grid-forming technologies, system strength, and power-system stability in grids with high penetrations of inverter-based resources (IBRs). More broadly, my expertise spans power-system stability and electricity-market design, with a focus on translating technical system needs into new grid services and market mechanisms for the stable and reliable operation of IBR-dominated grids.
My current research includes the development of system-strength metrics for IBR-dominated power systems, equivalent-circuit representations of grid-forming devices, and frequency-domain approaches for assessing grid-forming capability and compliance. I work in close collaboration with the Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) Consortium, the Electric Power Innovation for a Carbon-free Society (EPICS) Center, and the Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) on research supporting the operation of future low-carbon power systems.
Alongside my PhD, I am a Senior Market Development Analyst at the National Energy System Operator (NESO), working on the reform of NESO’s Ancillary Service Products, specifically Stability (Inertia) Markets. My work includes the design and quantitative analysis of new stability procurement arrangements, as well as the development of market and policy frameworks for a Short-Term Stability (Inertia) Market in the UK.
Previously, at Aurora Energy Research, I led the design and development of Aurora’s power-market model for the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), forecasting wholesale prices, plant dispatch, and capacity investment decisions. Before that, at Siemens, I worked within the Energy Market Management team, developing market dispatch software and applications for the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).
My earlier research at IIT Delhi focused on developing market-clearing frameworks for energy and ancillary service markets, incorporating the operational and physical characteristics of battery energy storage systems. I received the POSOCO Power System Award for my thesis, recognised among the top 10 in India.
