BIO

Dr Ankur Gupta-Wright is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Infectious Disease at  Imperial College London, and an NHS Consultant in Infectious Diseases. He is a clinician scientist whose research focuses on improving the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases through the development, evaluation and implementation of novel diagnostics, biomarkers and pragmatic clinical interventions.

 

His work spans tuberculosis, respiratory viral infections, antimicrobial resistance and global health, with a particular emphasis on point-of-care and host-response diagnostics. He has led and contributed to multicentre studies in high-burden settings across the UK, sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, and his research has directly informed national and international policy, including World Health Organization guidelines. His publications include influential studies in leading journals such as The Lancet, The Lancet Global Health, and other high-impact infectious disease and global health journals.

 

Dr Gupta-Wright employs a broad methodological portfolio that includes epidemiology, diagnostic accuracy studies, randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, health economics, and implementation science. His translational research aims to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies that improve patient outcomes and strengthen health systems.
