Overview
Mr Goldberg runs a programme into the treatment options for ankle arthritis, a debilitating disease that causes ankle pain and stiffness and has been shown to effect patient's quality of life as much as end stage heart failure. He is Chief Investigator on the NIHR HTA funded TARVA Study (HTA Project: 12/35/27) which is comparing the clinical and cost effectiveness of ankle replacement versus ankle fusion in patients over 50 with end stage ankle osteoarthritis. The Study involves over 40 surgeons across 17 NHS centres and will follow patients up for 10 years. The study will report the one year results in the summer of 2021 and two, five and ten year results subsequently.
Mr Goldberg is a Primary Investigator on the UK Infinity Study, the world's largest post market surveillance study of any ankle replacement implant to date with over 500 patients included.
Mr Goldberg also has a research programme into ankle and subtalar instability, as well as a regenerative medicine programme into the use of Stem Cells in Achilles Tendinopathy and cartilage repair.
