BIO

I took my graduation in Biological Sciences and my PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Naples, Italy. After my PhD, I held several postdoctoral fellowships first at the University of Warwick, in the UK, next at the Université Catholique de Louvain, in Brussels, and more recently at the “Dunn School of Pathology” at the University of Oxford.

During my scientific career I modelled human disease conditions in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. I combined a wide variety of experimental approaches, such as genetic engineering technologies and high-resolution imaging with the powerful repertoire of genetic tools available in Drosophila to elucidate the molecular mechanisms responsible for the pathological condition, especially in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.

Following my extensive experience as Postdoctoral Researcher, in September 2020 I joined Imperial College as a Teaching Fellow in the BSc Medical Biosciences (BMB) Programme where I teach in Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) module and LabPod1, a laboratory-based module. In addition, I act as Academic & Personal Tutor for undergraduate students.

I am really passionate about teaching and tutoring roles as they are both providing me with the incredible opportunity to practice and improve my teaching skills.
