DrAina Badia Soteras

I am a Research Associate in the group of Dr. Marco Brancaccio at Imperial College London. Here, I integrate in vivo genetic manipulation of SCN astrocytes and neurons with live imaging of circadian rhythms and behavioural testing to link circadian dysfunction with Alzheimer's disease progression and cognitive decline.

I hold a MSc degree in Neuroscience from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (The Netherlands), where I worked under the supervision of Dr. Mark Verheijen. During my doctoral training, I specialized in how astrocytes' terminal processes modulate the synaptic and extrasynaptic environment and gate fear memory. I bring extensive expertise in astrocyte-neuron interactions, in vivo cognitive testing, live imaging, molecular techniques, and proteomics.

Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time with my dog, playing sports, cooking, and travelling.
