BIO

Alireza Alibakhshi is a researcher working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, medical imaging and cardiovascular ultrasound. He is currently undertaking a PhD in Computer Science, with research focused on developing deep learning and computer vision methods for quantitative and explainable analysis of echocardiographic images.

His research interests include echocardiographic image quality assessment, anatomical view standardisation, foreshortening and rotational alignment, valvular imaging, explainable AI, and the development of clinically meaningful methods for automated interpretation of cardiac ultrasound. A particular focus of his work is combining expert clinical knowledge with machine learning to develop robust and interpretable approaches that can support echocardiographic acquisition and analysis.

Alireza is involved in collaborative cardiovascular imaging research associated with Imperial College London and the National Heart and Lung Institute. His work spans the development and validation of AI methods using large-scale clinical echocardiography datasets, multi-expert annotation studies, and independent clinical evaluation.
